Slough firm aims to build world’s first seaborne plastic recycling centre
Ocean Polymers are pushing ahead with plans to set up the world’s first ship-based recycling plant in the ocean. The primary aim is to collect waste ocean plastic and process it on-board the ship rather than taking it back to land to be processed.
The team is led by physicians and scientists from Imperial College London and is based in Slough, Berkshire. At present Ocean Polymers is crowdfunding to enable the company to move onto the second level of its plan which is to have a ship on the water in the second half of 2019.
